The confrontation comes amid renewed pressure on Trump over the long-delayed release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of trafficking underage girls. Although Trump approved bipartisan legislation calling for the release of the Epstein-related documents, the Department of Justice has missed a December 19 deadline to make all files public.
