India’s aviation safety regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), announced on Tuesday that it has slashed IndiGo’s flight schedule by 5 per cent. This move comes after widespread disruptions affecting thousands of passengers since December 1, 2025.
According to the DGCA, the reduction applies across multiple sectors, with a particular focus on high-demand and high-frequency routes where operational stability is critical. The regulator has instructed IndiGo to submit a revised flight schedule by 5 pm on Wednesday, signalling a firm push for immediate corrective action.
This decision aligns with the Civil Aviation Minister’s recent remarks, confirming the government’s intention to cut back flights under the current Winter Schedule 2025–26, during which IndiGo has been operating over 2,200 flights per day.
