In a decisive move to support disaster-stricken communities, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, has approved the advance release of ₹20 crore to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for Nagaland as part of the second instalment for the year 2025–26.
This funding aims to help the state provide immediate relief to people affected by heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides triggered by this year’s intense southwest monsoon. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, the central government remains deeply committed to assisting states during natural disasters — both financially and logistically.
So far in the 2025–26 financial year, the Centre has released ₹15,554 crore to 27 states under the SDRF and ₹2,267.44 crore to 15 states from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). Moreover, ₹4,571.30 crore has been provided from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 states, while ₹372.09 crore has been released from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.
The Centre has also ensured on-ground logistical assistance — deploying specialized NDRF, Army, and Air Force teams to flood and landslide-hit regions. Notably, this year’s monsoon witnessed the largest-ever deployment of 199 NDRF teams across 30 States and Union Territories, marking a historic scale of response for rescue and relief operations.
Beyond numbers and policies, this initiative reflects the human side of governance — a moment when compassion meets coordination. Every rupee released and every team deployed represents lives saved, homes rebuilt, and communities given a chance to heal faster. In times of crisis, it’s not just about funds — it’s about faith restored and humanity upheld.
