Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, speaking at the International Symposium on Peace, People and Possibilities in Jammu & Kashmir at SKICC Srinagar, highlighted that today’s peace in the region is not an accident, but a hard-earned reality built on unmatched sacrifices and guided by India’s timeless values.
He emphasized that the transition towards peace and progress reflects the spirit of those who gave their lives, and the wisdom of saints who believed peace can only grow where friendship, compassion and dialogue exist.
“True peace begins where people live with dignity, mutual respect and dialogue,” he said, pointing out that Jammu & Kashmir’s future is being shaped by its people working together, united in hope, growth and purpose. He described peace as the freedom to live without fear, where progress becomes visible in everyday life — in education, employment and opportunity.
Acknowledging the leadership of the Prime Minister, the LG stated that transformational change has been achieved in a short span — a change once considered impossible. Roads, schools and fields that once saw unrest now echo with children’s laughter and learning. The LG noted that the consistent development over the past 5–6 years has accomplished what decades could not.
He urged every citizen to protect this peace, calling it a shared responsibility. “The bravery of soldiers, police personnel and civilians has gifted us stability. Their sacrifice must guide our commitment to unity, law and brotherhood,” he added.
Addressing the youth, LG Sinha encouraged them to reject radicalization and substance abuse, reminding that there still exist voices trying to destabilize the region. “Our unity after the Pulwama attack proved our resilience to the world. We must continue to safeguard that spirit.”
He expressed confidence that if citizens continue walking this collective path, creativity, innovation and growth will define the future of Jammu & Kashmir.
