KUALA LUMPUR – The excitement is building as an estimated 60,000 passionate fans are expected to pack the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight for the highly anticipated showdown between Malaysia and Vietnam in the Asia Cup 2027 qualifiers.
The energy on the ground is already electric, with supporters proudly donning their national colors and singing team chants in anticipation. But with such a massive turnout, authorities are urging everyone to plan ahead and prioritize safety.
Cheras deputy OCPD Supt Ridzuan Khalid has asked those not attending the match to avoid the roads around the stadium to help ease congestion. For fans heading to the game, he strongly recommends using public transportation to avoid traffic snarls and parking woes.
“We want everyone to enjoy the match and get home safely,” Supt Ridzuan said. “Please follow the directions of police officers on duty, stay calm and courteous on the road, and avoid parking along the main routes to the stadium entrances. Vehicles causing obstruction will be ticketed and towed.”
Police have already set up a comprehensive safety plan, including strict security screenings. Gates to the stadium will open at 5:30 PM, and all fans will undergo bag and body checks as a precaution.
Supt Ridzuan also reminded everyone that no weapons, alcohol, or fireworks will be allowed in the stadium. “We’re here to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Anyone attempting to incite violence or cause disturbances will be dealt with firmly.”
It’s set to be an unforgettable night of football. For the love of the game and the spirit of unity, let’s all play our part in keeping the atmosphere safe, respectful, and filled with pride.
