KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 – Stepping once again onto Malaysian soil, Chinese President Xi Jinping brought with him not just the weight of diplomacy, but also a heartfelt message of connection, history, and hope for the future.
On a warm Tuesday evening, Xi arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a three-day state visit, his first since 2013. Greeted warmly at the Bunga Raya Complex of KLIA by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the visit is more than a formal gesture—it’s a celebration of a relationship that spans over half a century and a commitment to make the next 50 years just as meaningful.
Reflecting on his return to Malaysia, Xi said, “Twelve years ago, I came here for my first state visit. The kindness, the culture, and the deep ties I witnessed then have stayed with me. Coming back now fills me with warmth and sincere respect for the people of Malaysia.”
In a heartfelt statement released by the Chinese Embassy, Xi emphasized the enduring connection between the two nations, calling Malaysia a “good neighbour linked by the sea,” and highlighting their “millennium-old traditional friendship.”
During this visit, Xi is scheduled for in-depth conversations with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with the goal of strengthening political trust and pushing forward a shared vision for the future. He expressed confidence that these discussions will bear fruit, saying, “Together, we will open a new chapter—one of deeper friendship, stronger cooperation, and shared prosperity. I believe we can look forward to another 50 golden years of partnership.”
Last year marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. Both nations, Xi noted, are influential players in the Global South, and deepening cooperation between them could bring not only mutual benefits but also stability and progress to the region and the world at large.
President Xi’s message is clear: This isn’t just about politics—it’s about people, respect, and a shared journey ahead.
