On August 10, 2024, Choudry Farooq Ahmad Bajad, the Sadar of Jammu and Kashmir for the Dabastan E-India Gujjar and Bakerwal Foundation, held a pivotal meeting with Mr. Javid Ahmad Matoo, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir, at his office.
The discussion centered around critical issues impacting the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities. Choudry Farooq Ahmad Bajad raised concerns about unresolved crimes, pending FIRs involving community members, the alarming rate of youth unemployment, the struggles faced by disabled individuals, the persistence of child labor, and the increasing threat of drug trafficking.
In response, DIG Javid Ahmad Matoo reassured Choudry Farooq Ahmad Bajad of his commitment to tackling these challenges. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the police to address these issues and pledged to intensify their actions to ensure justice, security, and well-being for the community.
After the meeting, Choudry Farooq Ahmad Bajad briefed Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, National Media Coordinator for the Dabastan E-India Gujjar and Bakerwal Foundation, on the discussions and the commitments made by Mr. Matoo.
