SPM 2024 Sees Remarkable Results: A Triumph of Hard Work, Hope, and Determination

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — Today marks a proud moment for thousands of Malaysian families as the SPM 2024 results were released, revealing the best national performance in over a decade — a powerful testament to the resilience, perseverance, and dreams of our youth.

According to Education director-general Datuk Azman Adnan, this year’s National Average Grade (GPN) improved to 4.49 from 4.60 in 2023 — a sign that our students are not only coping but excelling, despite the many challenges they face.

“This is the best performance since 2013,” said Datuk Azman at a heartfelt press conference in Putrajaya, visibly moved by the achievement.

Out of 402,956 students who sat for the examination, 355,933 successfully qualified for their SPM certificates — that’s 94% of all candidates. But the real highlight? A total of 14,179 students scored straight As, marking a jump from last year’s numbers. These are the students who stayed up late, who sacrificed, who dared to believe in their dreams.

Even more encouraging is the rise in the number of students who passed with at least a grade E — 136,791 this year, up from 131,489 last year — proof that more students are reaching the finish line.

The gap between urban and rural students also continues to close, with urban students scoring an average GPN of 4.47 and rural students close behind at 4.92. It’s a step forward toward greater equity in education.

As of 10am today, students can collect their results from their schools or, for private candidates, at state education departments. For those far from home, the results are also accessible online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my or via SMS — just type SPM and send to 15888.

To all the students, parents, and teachers who walked this journey together — today, we celebrate your courage, commitment, and unwavering spirit. Congratulations, Malaysia’s future is in good hands.
